Boot camp – the one with fibre

by Skye Tyler on April 3, 2009

Everyone is already at the studio except for Mark. I’m sorting myself out before the session and he bursts in announcing ‘Don’t use the bathroom!’ Apparently he has pursued the suggestion about getting more fibre in his diet with some vigour. I request that we not discuss bowel habits again and am ignored.

Warm up

Ten minutes of light jogging outside the studio.

Circuit

Ten lateral pull-downs, ten tricep dips, ten press ups and ten sit ups.

Repeat for 15 minutes.

Cardio

Bench hops. Hands on the bench, jump/hop both legs over the bench to the other side. Left and right equals one. 30 repetitions in total for three sets.

Circuit

Repeat circuit above for another 15 minutes.

Cardio

A ‘jump line’ is set up. Five blocks mid-calf height, two blocks knee height and one block at mid thigh height. Jump over all blocks, one after the other, legs together. Repeat five times.

More cardio

Weights (about 10 kilos) in each hand we go outside again for more running. Jog down the slope and run up. My forearms go into spasm after four laps and I’m allowed to get rid of the weight. We keep going for another 11 laps.

The guys are wrecked. I cannot believe that they have managed to hold onto the weights for that long.

Yet more cardio

We finish off with another 30 bench hops, just for good measure.

Cool down??

Who needs a cool down? The weather is unseasonably warm and the guys all look like they need a hose down. I’m ready to go and do the shopping – it’s 7am on the dot.
